Medical Outcomes Specialist

The Medical Outcomes Specialist/Associate Director (MOS) is a scientifically trained and experienced professional with a strong understanding of the managed care (MC) marketplace, medical policies, scientific principles of health economics, outcomes research, and evidence-based medicine, as well as the excellent ability to effectively communicate on these topics with key external and internal stakeholders.
Under the direction of the Field Team Director (FTD) and in seamless alignment with the respective therapeutic area (TA) Medical and HCS Directors and TA objectives, the MOS is responsible for developing scientific engagement strategies for vital Healthcare Systems (HCS) customer segments within the U.
S.
These customer segments include (but are not limited to) commercial and government payers, Specialty Pharmacies, Distributors, IDNs, and Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs).
Responsibilities:
Establish and maintain professional relationships with identified key MC clinicians and customers for the exchange of information and education (eg clinical, scientific, health economic, broad TA, and disease state) information to optimize formulary positioning and access and ensure the safe and appropriate use of CSL Behring products.
Respond to unsolicited requests for information and fill educational gaps of MC and healthcare professional decision makers on clinical, scientific, health economic, and broad therapeutic area topics.
Partner with Field Team Leaders (FTLs) to educate and oversee the coordination of the MSLs' involvement in addressing appropriate regional MC educational and engagement needs.
Ensure efficient exchange of medical-scientific, health economic, and competitive information and insights with office-based and field leaders (eg MA, HCS, Business Teams) so that key gaps, issues, and opportunities are realized and help shape research, development, and life cycle strategies for investigational and commercialized products.
Build and maintain (MC) marketplace, medical policies, scientific principles of health economics and outcomes research, evidence-based medicine in the payer environment, and broad product and disease state knowledge.
Actively attend and participate in appropriate TA team trainings, upskilling training programs, and relevant conferences.
Develop and conduct internal training for MA and cross-functional colleagues, as needed Establish compliant working relationships across functional partners to ensure an enterprise approach when working with customers.
Participate in account planning activities as appropriate, contributing the medical-scientific perspective and insights to engagement strategies.
Identify opportunities and participate in appropriate internal and external collaborations that generate data demonstrating the value of CSL Behring products in real-world clinical use.
Provide medical-scientific and value-based expertise in the development, management, and maintenance of clinical and scientific communications (eg educational materials, research, publications, and event presentations, etc.
) Organize MA coverage for national and regional MC meetings in alignment with HCS.
Participate in appropriate industry meetings to stay informed of market changes impacting clinical, HEOR and real-world evidence approaches Partner with Medical Information and MA Operations to understand available resources, identify the need for customer materials, and create custom responses to frequent and/or unsolicited requests.
Ensure MC engagement is considered and addressed with relevant CSL Behring and Medical Affairs' policies, processes, and guidelines.
Partner with MA Leadership to ensure MA personnel are trained on these materials and MC-related regulatory guidelines.
Qualifications:
Professional degree in medicine (eg MD, PharmD, PhD, RPh, MS, MSN) is required; BSBA, MBA recommended 9
years' relevant pharmaceutical/biotherapeutics industry experience Minimum of 5 years in the pharmaceutical or managed care setting is required Minimum of 5 years MSL experience with direct MC engagement within that time is highly preferred Sound experience interacting with commercial functions within the healthcare industry Our Benefits CSL employees that work at least 30 hours per week are eligible for benefits effective day 1.
